Link Alerts Report

What is the Link Alerts report, and how should I use it?

Written by Caitlin Ward

Overview

The Link Alerts Report helps you identify affiliate links on your site that may need attention, so you can improve your audience's experience while also maximizing your commissions.

Instead of manually checking links one by one, this report highlights the links that are most likely to benefit from an update.

Where to Find the Link Alerts Report

In your Lasso Lasso, navigate to:

From there, you'll see all active link alerts across your site in one place.

What You Can Find in This Report

The Link Alerts Report helps you quickly identify links that are:

  • Broken (going to 404 pages)

  • Pointing to products that are out of stock

  • Missing higher-commission opportunities

By reviewing these alerts regularly, you can prioritize the changes that will have the biggest impact on your site.

Understanding the Report

The Link Alerts Report is designed to help you answer questions such as:

  • Which links are failing right now?

  • Why is each link failing?

  • Which links should be prioritized first?

The report includes:

  • A chart at the top that provides a high-level overview of alert activity.

  • A detailed table that lists individual links along with the specific alerts associated with them.

The chart will show you the total number of clicks on links with alerts. Think of this as the total clicks that could have earned you more.

You can customize this report using the Filters and date range selectors right above the chart. These selections will apply to both the chart and the detailed table below it.

Scroll down, and you'll see the detailed table. This is sorted from most clicks to least clicks, so you can focus on the most popular links first.

You'll also see the type of alert that applies to the specific link. This way, you can focus on just one type if you'd like to.

Read on to learn about the different types of alerts and the difference between the "View" and "Fix It" options.

Types of Alerts

Broken Links

Broken link alerts have the red link icon and indicate that a link is no longer working correctly.

When readers click a broken link, they may end up on an error or 404 page. This can create a poor user experience and can result in lost commissions.

If you see a broken link alert, click on the link to make sure it's truly broken. (Lasso errs on the side of caution and will show the alert if we can't 100% verify the link loads a real page.)

If it's truly broken, click the "Fix It" button beside the alert to go to the Link Details page. There, you can change the Primary Destination URL, and Lasso will update it across all of your content automatically.

Out-of-Stock Products

Out-of-stock alerts have the orange box icon and identify links that point to products that are currently unavailable on Amazon.

Sending readers to products they can't purchase can lead to frustration and missed earning opportunities. Depending on the situation, you may choose to:

  • Replace the product with a similar alternative

  • Temporarily remove the recommendation

  • Check back later to see if the item is back in stock

If you want to replace it, click the "Fix It" button beside the alert to go to the Link Details page. There, you can change the Primary Destination URL, and Lasso will update it across all of your content automatically.

Higher Commission Opportunities

Also called Revenue Opportunities, Higher Commission Opportunities have the green light bulb icon. These alerts highlight cases where an alternate but very similar product has a higher commission.

For example, you may be promoting a composting bin that pays 3% base commissions on Amazon Associates, but there's another bin that's the same size and shape that's paying 15% commissions through Lasso's Partner Deals.

The products are still on Amazon. They just pay better, sometimes even 3-5 times more.

Taking advantage of these opportunities can help increase revenue from your existing traffic without requiring additional content or visitors.

Click the "View" button beside the alert to see what the alternate product is. Lasso will never automatically swap it without your approval. But if you approve, Lasso can update it for you across all of your content.

Tips for Using the Report

A simple workflow for managing alerts is:

  1. Open the Link Alerts Report at least once per week.

  2. Review the links that are getting the most clicks.

  3. Update or replace those links as needed.

If links have similar numbers of clicks, focus first on:

  • Broken links. These send your audience to a dead end.

  • Then, out-of-stock products. These still go to Amazon, so you have a chance to earn, but it's a much lower chance.

  • Then, higher-commission opportunities. They don't impact reader experience but can multiply your earnings with little-to-no effort.

Why This Report Matters

Even a small number of problematic links can affect both reader trust and lose you a lot of money.

The Link Alerts Report takes the guesswork out of knowing what's broken. Now, you can quickly find it and fix it in just a few clicks.

By surfacing potential problems and opportunities automatically, Lasso makes it easier to maintain a healthy, high-performing affiliate channel that keeps you.
