How to Optimize a Single YouTube Video with Vidrunner

Use Vidrunner’s video page to generate YouTube tags, timestamps, and product link suggestions for one specific video.

Written by Caitlin Ward

Overview

The is for the individual video pages in Vidrunner, like:

https://app.vidrunner.com/video/video/{slug}

The {slug} is the unique identifier for the video inside Vidrunner.

Use this workflow when you want to optimize one YouTube video at a time, especially if you want help with:

  • Better YouTube tags

  • Structured timestamps

  • Relevant Amazon product links

Step 1: Add or Find Your Video

There are two common ways to get to a video optimization page.

Option 1: Paste a YouTube Video URL

If the video is not already in Vidrunner, go to your Vidrunner dashboard and click New Video.

Then, paste the YouTube video URL into the app where prompted and click Process Video.

Note: By default, Vidrunner will generate product links, timestamps, and/or tags. It will also use your default Amazon tracking ID from your Vidrunner Settings.

You can remove any options or add a video-specific tracking ID.

  • If you choose not to generate something, you can generate it later.

  • You can also change your tracking ID anytime. You'll just need to re-copy and paste the links.

Tags, timestamps, and links each take 1 credit for a maximum of 3 credits per video. It does not cost a credit to change your tracking ID.

Option 2: Open a Video You Already Added

If you previously added the video, find it in your existing video list and open it from there.

Use this when:

  • You did a full channel scan and are working through each video

  • You want to regenerate or fix suggestions for a video you started earlier

Step 2: Understand the Video Page

Think of this page as Vidrunner’s workspace for one video. It does not replace YouTube Studio. Instead, it helps you create better and faster metadata and supporting content that you can then add into YouTube Studio.

This will help YouTube understand your video, as well as make it easier for viewers to navigate through the video and buy what you're promoting.

Once you are on video's page, you will see the optimization score in the top right:

Click that or scroll down, and you'll see a detailed breakdown of your video's score:

Vidrunner gives each a video a score out of 100%. You get 25% for each category:

  • Broken Links: If your video has links in the description, it will check to see if they go to real pages or 404 pages. If they are no 404 pages, you're optimized.

  • Out of Stock Products: If your video has Amazon links in the description, it will make sure those products are available to buy. If so, you're optimized.

  • Tags: If your tags are over 450 characters, you're optimized.

  • Timestamps: If you have timestamps, you're optimized.

In the middle of the page, you'll have the option to copy, edit, and generate your links, timestamps, and tags. We'll go into details of each one below.

Step 3: Generate Tags

Use the Tags area to ask Vidrunner for YouTube tag suggestions. It costs 1 credit to generate Tags.

What You Get

You'll get a list of tags related to the video’s topic, content, and likely search intent.

These tags may include:

  • Main topic keywords

  • Related search terms

  • Product or brand terms

  • Niche-specific phrases

  • Variations people might search for on YouTube

For example:

baseball, baseball gear, budget shopping, thrift store, goodwill, savers, walmart, ross, sports equipment, used equipment, cleats, batting gloves, baseball gloves, baseball bat, easton bat, rawlings glove, rawlings gold glove gamer, boombah turfs, nike batting gloves, youth coaching, slow pitch softball, discount shopping, bargain hunting, sneaker shopping, store haul, sports vlog, search intent for shoppers, keyword ideas for beginners real, buying tips, sports store, work gloves, gaming glove

How to Use Them

Review the suggested tags, then click the Copy button to get properly formatted Tags. This can be pasted directly into the tags field in YouTube Studio.

You do not have to use every tag. You can delete the ones you don't want and either generate more or copy the remaining ones.

Step 4: Generate Timestamps

Use the timestamp generation option to create suggested YouTube chapters.

What You Get

Vidrunner will generate timestamp suggestions that break the video into sections.

These usually include:

  • Time markers

  • Chapter titles

  • A logical structure for the video

  • Key moments or topics covered in the video

Example format:

0:00 Introduction
1:24 Main topic begins
4:10 Product walkthrough
8:35 Final thoughts

How to Use Them

Click the Copy button to get properly formatted timestamps the timestamps. Then, paste them into your video's description in YouTube Studio.

YouTube will automatically these into functional chapter because:

  • The first timestamp starts at 0:00

  • Each timestamp has a label

  • The timestamps are listed in order

  • The video has enough valid chapter entries

Review the timestamps before publishing them. Make sure the chapter titles accurately describe the video.

Step 5: Generate Product Links

Use the product link generation option to get suggested products or links that are relevant to the video.

What You Get

Vidrunner can suggest products, tools, or resources that match the video content.

These suggestions can help you build out a YouTube description with useful Amazon links for viewers.

Depending on your setup, product link suggestions may include:

  • Product names

  • Suggested link text

  • Affiliate or product URLs

  • Relevant items mentioned or implied in the video

All links will have vrunr.to formats so they don't take up too many characters in your descriptions. Once they're in your descriptions, this also allows you to change the tracking ID anytime without having to replace the links in your description. Vidrunner will redirect with the correct ID automatically.

If you added a default Amazon tracking ID to your Vidrunner settings, that ID will automatically be added to your links so you have full Amazon Associates tracking. This is the case even without going through SiteStripe.

You can also click the Tracking ID button to change the ID used in those links.

Don't see your ID attached? Check for "maas" attributes in the link. If that's included, it's a partner product through Lasso's Brand Deals. These products are all from Amazon and give the exact same experience for your audience. But, they pay much higher commissions, usually 10% or more. Make sure you configure your Payouts Settings to get paid for these!

Images are included for your convenience but will not be included in the YouTube descriptions. Instead, you'll get properly-formatted titles and links for your description.

For example:

Easton Speed Youth Bat https://vrunr.to/a/i8sKXQuFC2
Easton MOXIE Bat https://vrunr.to/a/V3LJAvXJJl
Easton Hype FIRE Bat https://vrunr.to/a/UYRADREkmc

How to Use Them

Review each suggestion before adding it to your YouTube description.

Only include products that are genuinely relevant to your brand and that you feel comfortable promoting.

Don't like a product or its title? You can hover over it to:

  • Click the trash icon and delete it.

  • Or, pick the pencil icon to edit the name.

Click the Copy button to get description-formatted links and titles. You can paste them directly into your YouTube Studio description.

If you use affiliate links, make sure your YouTube description includes the proper affiliate disclosure.

Step 6: Copy Results into YouTube Studio

Vidrunner does not update YouTube automatically.

After generating suggestions, open YouTube Studio and manually copy the results into the appropriate fields.

Common places to copy Vidrunner results:

  • Tags → YouTube Studio’s video tags field

  • Timestamps → YouTube video description

  • Product links → YouTube video description

Before saving changes in YouTube Studio, review everything for accuracy, formatting, and compliance with your channel’s style.
