How to Scan Your Entire YouTube Channel with Vidrunner

Use Vidrunner’s channel scan to quickly review the overall health of your YouTube channel.

Written by Caitlin Ward

Overview

A Channel Scan imports your videos into Vidrunner and helps identify optimization opportunities across your content library.

This is useful when you want to see which videos need attention without checking each one manually in YouTube Studio.

Rest assured:

  • It does not change anything about your videos or your channel

  • It does not require any permissions

  • It's free and does not cost any Vidrunner credits

When to Use This

Use a full channel scan when you want to:

  • See optimization status for all of your videos in one place

  • Prioritize videos that may need better tags, timestamps, or product links

  • Get a broader view of your channel’s overall content health

  • Decide which videos to optimize first

Step 1: Start a Channel Scan

From your Vidrunner dashboard, choose the option to scan or import your YouTube channel.

Once you start the scan, Vidrunner begins checking your channel and importing video information into your account.

This doesn't optimize or change anything. It just shows you what needs attention and what looks optimized already, so you know which videos to work on.

Step 2: What Gets Imported

During a channel scan, Vidrunner imports information about the videos on your YouTube channel.

This may include:

  • Video titles

  • Video URLs

  • Thumbnails

  • Descriptions

  • Existing product links

  • Existing tags

  • Existing timestamps

The scan gives Vidrunner enough context to organize your videos and evaluate where optimization may help.

Note: Vidrunner excludes Shorts from this scan.

Step 3: What Vidrunner Analyzes

Vidrunner reviews imported videos to help you understand their optimization health.

Depending on the video and available data, Vidrunner can analyze:

  • Whether the video has enough tags (450+ characters)

  • Whether the description has functioning product links

  • Whether timestamps or chapters are present

This is to help you:

  • Make the video more discoverable (via tags)

  • Increase affiliate income (via product links)

  • Improve searchability and and navigation (via timestamps)

Step 4: Review Videos After the Scan

After the scan finishes, you'll get an overall health score for your entire channel. This is the average across all of your videos.

You can also review your imported videos inside Vidrunner's Videos page. You can use the video list to see which videos are available for optimization.

Vidrunner gives each a video a score out of 100%. You get 25% for each category:

  • Broken Links: If your video has links in the description, it will check to see if they go to real pages or 404 pages. If they are no 404 pages, you're optimized.

  • Out of Stock Products: If your video has Amazon links in the description, it will make sure those products are available to buy. If so, you're optimized.

  • Tags: If your tags are over 450 characters, you're optimized.

  • Timestamps: If you have timestamps, you're optimized.

Click any of the videos to start optimizing it. You can learn more about individual video optimization here.

Step 5: What to Expect if the Scan Takes Time

A full channel scan typically only takes a few minutes.

If it takes a little longer:

  • Vidrunner will continue importing videos in the background

  • You can go to your Videos page to see what has already loaded.
