How to Automatically Earn Higher Commissions on Products You're Already Promoting

See how to automatically earn higher, boosted commissions for the same exact Amazon products.

Written by Caitlin Ward

Overview: What Is Boosting?

For Amazon links only, Lasso can automatically apply higher-paying commission rates when they're available in the Brand Deals Marketplace. This only applies to when the products share the same ASIN.

Note that Lasso does not update the Primary Destination URL to include the new tracking attributes. You still keep your normal link. If boosting is enabled, Lasso checks for the best rate that's available every time the link is clicked:

  • If the Brand Deal exists, Lasso's applies the higher commission rate, and you get paid by Lasso.

  • If no Brand Deal exists, you earn from Amazon Associates just like normal.

Your readers still shop on Amazon as usual, and they still see the exact same product. You just earn more. 💸

What Boosting does not do

  • It does not convert non-Amazon links (ShareASale, Impact, etc.) into Amazon links

  • It does not send shoppers to a different retailer or a different product

  • It does not affect mobile deep linking or internationalization

Global vs. Per-Link Controls

Lasso uses two related settings to control automatic commission upgrades:

Setting

Where to find it

What it controls

Auto-upgrade Eligible Links

WordPress → Lasso → Settings → Amazon

Your site-wide default for whether eligible Amazon links can receive higher commissions from Lasso's Brand Deal Marketplace

Boosting

Link Details page for an individual link

Per-link control that can follow your global default or override it

Global Controls

Auto-upgrade Eligible Links can be found by:

  1. Navigating to the Lasso plugin in WordPress.

  2. Clicking the Settings tab.

  3. Navigating to Amazon in the top right of that Settings page.

  4. Auto-upgrade Eligible Links is in the right-hand column.

  5. Don't forget to hit Save Changes if you alter your settings! 🤓

Per-Link Controls

Boosting settings for individual links can be found by:

  1. Navigating to the Lasso plugin in WordPress.

  2. Clicking on any Amazon link in the Dashboard.

  3. The Boosting toggle appears in the bottom of the right-hand column.

  4. Don't forget to hit Save Changes if you alter your settings! 🤓

How the Global and Per-Link Settings Work Together

Think of Auto-upgrade Eligible Links as your default, and Boosting on each link as the final say for that link.

Global setting

Per-link Boosting

Result for that link

ON

ON (or not set)

Eligible links can receive higher commissions

ON

OFF

That link is excluded; Lasso will not auto-upgrade it

OFF

OFF (or not set)

Tip: If you haven’t changed Boosting on a specific link, it follows your global Auto-upgrade Eligible Links setting.

How to Change Your Global Default (Auto-upgrade Eligible Links)

  1. In WordPress, go to Lasso → Settings → Amazon.

  2. Toggle Auto-upgrade Eligible Links on or off.

  3. Choose your option from the confirmation modal: Only New Links or Override All Links. More details on those below. 👇

  4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the Settings page.

Only New Links

Applies the change to new links going forward. Existing links keep their current per-link Boosting settings (or inherit the previous global default if they were never changed individually).

Use this when: You want a new default but don’t want to change links you’ve already configured. For example, links tied to Amazon Creator Connections or other partnerships.

Override All Links

Applies the change to every existing Lasso link on your site.

Use this when: You want every link to match the new global setting, regardless of previous per-link choices.

How to Control Boosting for a Single Link (Lasso Pro)

Note: Per-link Boosting is available in Lasso Pro. The global Auto-upgrade Eligible Links setting is available in both Lasso Lite and Lasso Pro.

  1. In WordPress, go to Lasso and open the link you want to manage.

  2. On the Link Details page, find the Boosting toggle.

  3. ON: Lasso can auto-upgrade this link to higher commissions when eligible.

  4. OFF: Lasso will not auto-upgrade this link. Your current affiliate URL stays as-is.

  5. Click Save Changes.

When Boosting is off for a link, Lasso:

  • Will not apply Brand Deal commission upgrades to that link.

  • Will track clicks like normal, based on your preferences.

  • Will monitor link health and out-of-stock status

  • Will apply mobile deep linking and internationalization (if those features are enabled)

Using Boosting with Creator Connections and Existing Partnerships

Do you participate in Amazon Creator Connections or already have existing partnerships that offer high rates and require specific tracking?

If so there are two popular options to ensure you keep those higher rates for those links but can also earn higher rates through Lasso on all your other Amazon links:

  • If you primarily use Creator Connections links:

    • Turn Auto-upgrade Eligible Links OFF as the default.

    • Turn Boosting ON for the non-Creator Connections links in Lasso.

  • If you have only select Creator Connections links:

    • Turn Auto-upgrade Eligible Links ON as the default.

    • Turn Boosting OFF for those specific Creator Connections links.

FAQ

Does Boosting switch my links from one affiliate program to another?

No. Boosting only applies to eligible Amazon links where Lasso has a higher-commission Brand Deal available for the same product. It will not turn your non-Amazon links into Amazon links, and it will not redirect shoppers to a different retailer.

What’s the difference between Auto-upgrade Eligible Links and Boosting?

  • Auto-upgrade Eligible Links (Settings → Amazon) is your global default.

  • Boosting (Link Details) lets you override that default for one link.

Per-link settings take priority over the global default.

What happens when I change Auto-upgrade Eligible Links?

You’ll see a modal asking how to apply the change:

  • Only New Links: updates your default for future Lasso links; existing per-link settings stay as they are.

  • Override All Links: applies the new setting to every Lasso link on your site, plus new Lasso links.

Does turning off Boosting affect my other Lasso features?

No. Turning off Boosting only stops commission auto-upgrades for that link. Click tracking, out-of-stock alerts, mobile deep linking, and internationalization continue to work normally.
