Overview

The 'Force changes from link details' toggle is a setting in Lasso that allows you to override existing Amazon tracking IDs for specific links. This feature may seem niche, but it can be incredibly useful in certain situations. In this article, we'll explain what that toggle does and how to use it effectively.

What is 'Force Changes from Link Details'?

'Force changes from link details' allows you to override existing Amazon tracking IDs for specific links. This means that if you have a link with a different tracking ID in your post, you can use 'Force changes from link details' to change it to the tracking ID specified in Lasso's Link Details Page.

Why Would You Want to Use 'Force Changes from Link Details'?

For most situations, changing the tracking ID in the Lasso Link Details page is enough, especially when you're only using one primary tracking ID or very select tracking IDs.

However, we have a rule that prioritizes the tracking ID in post content over the tracking ID set in Lasso if that tracking ID is in your Tracking ID Whitelist.

☝️ Tip: You can find your list of multiple tracking IDs by going to Lasso > Settings > Amazon > Tracking ID Whitelist.

So, if you're replacing one of your whitelisted IDs with a new ID but don't want to remove your previous ID entirely from your site, you'd use the 'Force changes from link details' toggle.

For example, let's say you have an Amazon product in Lasso with 'test-20' as the tracking ID, In your post, that same product is using 'example-20' as the tracking ID.

In this case, you may want to use 'example-20' elsewhere on your site, but you want to use 'test-20' for that specific link. By enabling 'Force changes from link details', Lasso will automatically replace every instance of that Amazon link sitewide with the 'test-20' tracking ID. But you'll still be able to use 'example-20' on other links

How to Use 'Force Changes from Link Details'

To use 'Force changes from link details', follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Lasso > Settings > Amazon.

  2. Toggle on 'Force changes from link details'.

  3. Hit 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page.

That's it!
