If you encounter issues with Amazon product images not appearing or displaying incorrectly, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.
Common Problems with Amazon Images
Most users won't have to worry about problems with their Amazon images. When you add a new link to Lasso, the image will show directly from Amazon's API right away.
However, Amazon affiliate links added to Lasso may occasionally not pull the product image. This can be caused by connection issues to Lasso's server or downtimes with Amazon.
These issues can result in product images not loading correctly or being replaced by placeholder visuals. The steps below will guide you on troubleshooting and resolving these issues quickly.
Step-by-Step Solution
1. Verify the Extent of the Issue
Check if the missing images are limited to specific links or if they're affecting all Amazon links. We recommend trying at least one Amazon link straight from your browser, one shortened amzn.to link from SiteStripe, and one long link from SiteStripe, all for different products.
This will help streamline the fix by telling us if it's isolated to one product or one link type, or if it's widespread with all Amazon links.
2. Refresh the Link
If the issue is isolated, it may have been just a temporary blip. You can check for a fresh image by:
Navigating to the Link Details page for the Lasso link that's missing the Amazon image.
Click the Refresh button located under the Example Display section. This action forces Lasso to fetch fresh data from Amazon, including updated images and prices.
If that works, you're all set! It was likely just a brief downtime. If the image is still missing, keep working through the below steps.
3. Check Amazon System Updates
In some cases, the issue results from a temporary disruption on Amazon's end. To confirm this, visit the AWS Service Health Dashboard and Amazon reports on Downdetector.
If you see outages there, this is likely why your images aren't showing. We cannot fix this from the Lasso side and must wait for Amazon's services to work again. Once the outages are repaired, your images will automatically update within 24 hours, or repeat step 2 above to get the images right away. You can also add new links to Lasso and retrieve the Amazon images as soon as the outage is fixed.
4. Escalate if Necessary
If the issue persists after refreshing links and checking for Amazon updates, please contact Lasso support by emailing [email protected] or clicking the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of any Lasso page.
