What Happens When You Experience a Bug with Lasso in WordPress
When you find a bug in Lasso, we will try to replicate in our test environments. If we can't replicate it, we need to test and debug it directly on your site. But, we prefer not to do this on your live site.
Instead, our devs can debug safely by restoring a backup of your site in a local test environment directly on their computers. This is much safer for your site and helps speed up the investigation process, too!
Generating a Backup
All you have to do is download a free plugin, create the backup, and send us the .wpress file.
π‘ Note: We specifically need the .wpress file instead of other backup file types. The .wpress version is the only one that works with our local test environments.
Here's how to generate a backup in just a few steps:
Install the All-In-One WP Migration plugin.
Create a backup file by navigating to the Export tab.
Check the boxes for
Do not export spam comments
andDo not export media library (files)
. This will reduce the file size and speed up the export/import process. Then, click Export To underneath the checkboxes. Choose File from the dropdown list. (This may take a while depending on the size of your site.)
Once complete, it will prompt you to download the backup.
Upload the .wpress file to Google Drive, Dropbox, or other large file sender you like to use.
Share the Drive/Dropbox URL with the Lasso team member who requested the backup.
Once we have the backup file, we'll work to resolve your bug ASAP!
