Can You Add Genius Links to Lasso?
Yes, you can add your Genius links to Lasso just like any other affiliate link.
Lasso will still pull all of the Amazon product data you're used to, like the price, title, and image—as long as you are NOT using a 'Choice page.'
If you use GeniusLink to generate affiliate links, you need to be sure you're following any relevant Terms of Service. 👇
What to Consider with Amazon Links
Most affiliate programs allow cloaking, but some do not.
The big one here is Amazon. According to the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement Program Policies documentation:
“You will not cloak, hide, spoof, or otherwise obscure the URL of your Site containing Special Links (including by use of Redirecting Links) or the user agent of the application in which Content is displayed or used such that we cannot reasonably determine the site or application from which a customer clicks through such Special Link to the Amazon Site.”
For this reason, Lasso doesn't cloak Amazon links, since Amazon may have an issue with that.
GeniusLink has a unique relationship with Amazon whereby they can "cloak" (redirect) geni.us links to Amazon.
For geni.us links where the redirecting destination is Amazon, Lasso will not cloak it:
Display links and text links will automatically switch to your geni.us link and continue keeping the Amazon data up to date via the final destination of the redirect chain.
Can I Still Cloak My Geni.us links in Lasso?
You can cloak Geni.us links in Lasso where the final destination isn't Amazon—most affiliate networks allow cloaking, but make sure to check the terms of service with each you use.
Unlike standard Amazon affiliate links, Lasso will also allow you to cloak your Genius links to your site's branded domain.
If you'd prefer your links to appear as geni.us links instead of traditional cloaked links, you can disable the Link Cloaking toggle at the bottom of the Link Details page.
What If I Want to Use Lasso for Amazon Links but Still Use Geniuslink for Internationalization?
You can use GeniusLinks' internationalization/localization with Lasso!
Just setup your Geni.us link and make sure it's a auto-redirecting link (not a Choice page) and then add it to Lasso.
Alternatively, you can stick with Amazon's OneLink internationalization/localization by adding a product's .com link to Lasso and Amazon will take care of the redirecting.
There are other benefits to using Amazon's .com OneLink, such as:
There's no need to go into your Amazon Associates account to generate an affiliate link to then pass to GeniusLink
It'll be easier to manage links in Lasso than in both Lasso and GeniusLink simultaneously
You'll never have cloaked Amazon links that could risk violating Amazon's Terms of Service
If you use Lasso to create your Amazon links, make sure the Tracking ID for This Site field in Lasso > Settings > Amazon matches the tracking ID you have in GeniusLink:
