What Is the Amazon Link Checker Tool?

Amazon's Link Checker is a test to see if your Amazon links are properly monetized. The idea is to test your Amazon link to ensure you'll get credit if anyone clicks on it.

For US Amazon Associates accounts, you can find it here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/home/tools/linkchecker

For all other accounts, you can find it by navigating to Amazon Associates > Tools > Link Checker.

Why Is the Link Checker Saying Your Lasso Link Failed?

The Link Checker tool isn't always accurate.

For example, here's this Loom video where I took links straight from SiteStripe and added them to the link checker tool. Amazon said they both failed. 😭 But, that's not true, since the links came directly from Amazon.

So, you can test your links manually if you're ever in doubt.

How to Ensure Your Amazon Links Are Monetized

You can do manual checks to see if your Amazon links are monetized. There are two ways to do this.

Option 1: Verify the Tracking ID

According to the info Amazon's Link Checker page:

Our Link Checker is designed to only check the tagging for a URL linking to Amazon.com. The only way Amazon can track a referral is through your Associate ID or Tracking ID so using the Link Checker tool is one way to help ensure that you'll be credited for all of your referral fees.

So, the tracking ID is what Amazon needs to see, and you can check manually to ensure the Amazon tracking ID is included in your link.

For example, see the ID here:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/BANDAI-Tamagotchi-Original-Starry-Virtual/dp/B0C5M2WHQZ?th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lassotest-21&linkId=67faf67e19686360ef9a9f85187deda6&language=en_GB&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

When you click on that link or paste it into your browser, the tracking ID also shows in the Amazon URL:

As long as your tracking ID shows after clicking the link and the page genuinely loads on Amazon, you're all set. Amazon just needs to see tag=YourTrackingID-## to attribute the sale to you.

Option 2: Test Clicks

The second option takes a little longer. But, you can test a few clicks to your links and then check your Amazon stats.

You should see clicks registering for those links in your Amazon Associates Dashboard within a few hours and definitely by the next day.
