Overview
Connecting your YouTube channel allows Lasso to automatically find Amazon links in your video descriptions, convert them into controllable Lasso links, and help you earn more from the traffic you're already getting.
Once connected, Lasso scans your videos daily to import links, fix broken ones, and give you full control over every affiliate link across your channel.
What is Lasso for YouTube?
Lasso for YouTube helps creators share, manage, and track affiliate links across their video descriptions.
Instead of manually tracking links across dozens or hundreds of videos, Lasso:
Finds Amazon links in your video descriptions
Converts them into Lasso-controlled links
Lets you update links in one place
Automatically syncs changes across every video
Before Lasso

Hard to track
Must manually update each video description
Standard commission
After Lasso

Automatically tracked
Updates everywhere automatically
✨ Bonus: Higher commissions through Lasso Partner Deals
This means you never need to maintain spreadsheets of which links appear in which videos.
How the YouTube Connection Works
Connecting your channel takes just a few steps.
1. Connect your Google account
Click Connect YouTube and sign in with the Google account that manages your channel.
(It's okay if your YouTube email address is different from the email address used for your Lasso account.)
2. Choose which channels to connect
If your Google account manages multiple YouTube channels, you'll be able to select the ones you want to connect.
3. Lasso scans your videos
After connecting, Lasso scans your channel and imports:
Video titles
Video type (Shorts vs videos)
View counts
Descriptions
Links found in descriptions
4. Amazon links are automatically imported
Any Amazon links found in your video descriptions are automatically imported into Lasso.
This includes:
SiteStripe links
Standard Amazon product links
Literally any Amazon link 😉
5. Amazon links are converted to Lasso links
When Lasso finds an Amazon link, it converts it into a lasso.to link.
Example:
Before
https://amazon.com/dp/B08XYZ123/?tag=trackingid-20
After
https://lasso.to/abcd123
This helps track clicks, update links, and apply conversion-optimizing features like internationalization and mobile deep linking.
6. Future updates sync automatically
Once a link becomes a lasso.to link, you can update it inside your Lasso dashboard.
When you change the Primary Destination URL of the link in Lasso:
The update applies everywhere that link appears
No need to edit each YouTube video manually
7. Lasso scans your channel daily
Lasso automatically rescans connected channels every day to:
Find new links
Import new videos
Detect broken and out-of-stock links
Why Connecting Your Channel is Needed
Without connecting your YouTube channel, Lasso has no way to automatically discover the links in your video descriptions or update them when they're broken or out-of-stock.
The connection allows Lasso to:
Find links across all your videos
Import them to your account, so you know exactly which links are in which descriptions
Replace the links across your channel when you update them in Lasso
Keep everything synced over time
This turns your YouTube descriptions into a centralized, manageable affiliate system instead of a collection of manually managed links.
Can I Use Lasso Without Connecting YouTube?
Yes.
You can still use Lasso to create links manually without connecting your YouTube account.
However, connecting your channel unlocks automations such as:
Automatic link importing
Link replacement across all videos
Adding links to descriptions straight from your Lasso account
Without the connection, you would need to manage links manually video-by-video.
What Permissions Does Lasso Request?
When connecting your channel, Google asks you to grant Lasso permission to access your YouTube account.
The permissions requested allow Lasso to:
View your YouTube account information
Update descriptions when links need to be replaced
This access is required so Lasso can detect Amazon links and replace them with Lasso links in your video descriptions.
Important: Lasso Will Never Delete Your Content
Google shows a very broad permission description, but Lasso only uses the access required to read video information and update links in descriptions.
Lasso will never:
Delete your videos
Delete your channel
Delete descriptions or captions
Modify comments or ratings
Lasso does not include any features or tools capable of performing those actions, so they cannot occur accidentally.
The permission simply allows Lasso to replace Amazon links in descriptions with Lasso links so you can manage them from your Lasso dashboard.
Lasso also does not access unrelated Google services such as Gmail or Google Drive.
You Can Revoke Access at Any Time
You remain in full control of your Google account permissions.
You can revoke Lasso’s access at any time through your Google Account permissions settings.
If access is revoked:
The permissions granted to Lasso are removed
Lasso will no longer scan your channel or update descriptions
Any lasso.to links previously added will be reverted back to their original Amazon links
This ensures your channel can always return to its original state if you decide to disconnect.
If you revoke access, you can still manage links within your Lasso account and YouTube descriptions manually.
Your Amazon Tracking ID Will Be Retained
If your Amazon links already include an Amazon Associates tracking ID, Lasso will preserve that tracking ID when importing your links.
This means your existing affiliate attribution continues to work normally.
If:
Your links do not include a tracking ID, or
You want to change which tracking ID is used
You can add or update your tracking ID directly inside your Lasso settings.
Lasso will then apply that ID automatically when managing your links.
What If My Videos Don’t Have Amazon Links Yet?
No problem.
If Lasso doesn’t find any Amazon links on your channel, you’ll be given the option to add affiliate links directly from the Lasso dashboard.
This allows you to:
Get recommendations for product links to add to descriptions
Add those product links (or any you want to add) to your video descriptions
Manage those links from Lasso going forward
This makes it easy to start affiliate marketing on YouTube even if you haven’t added links before.
