How to Create a Lasso Display in the WordPress Post Editor

Paste a product link while you write. Lasso builds the display in place with no trip to the Lasso Dashboard required.

Overview

If you’ve ever thought: “I just want to give Lasso a link in my blog post and have it populate the product info right there," this is that workflow.

You don’t need to build every product link in the Lasso Dashboard before you write. From the post editor, paste a product URL, let Lasso pull in the details it can (title, image, price, and more when available), tweak the display, and insert it into your post, all without leaving the WordPress post editor.

Step-by-step

1. Open the Lasso block in your post

In the post editor, open the Lasso block, click to add a display, and choose the display type you'd like. (We'll use Single in this example.)

2. Click Create a Link

You'll then see a list of all of your existing Lasso links, as well as the button to Create a Link button. Click that Create a Link button.

3. Paste your URL

In the Add A New Link modal:

  1. Paste the product or affiliate URL into the field
    (example: an Amazon product URL)

  2. Click Add Link

This will add the link to Lasso without going to the Lasso Dashboard.

4. Customize the display (optional but recommended)

The next screen is your quick editor for that link. It will show any product data Lasso was able to retrieve and give you the option to edit any of the information you see there. You’ll typically see:

  • Live preview of the display

  • Name, destination URLs, and button text

  • Display theme

  • Image, badge, price, description, and disclosure

  • Groups, custom fields, and related toggles

Change anything you need. The preview will update as you go, so you have an idea of how it will look in your post.

5. Click Add

When the preview looks right, click Add in the bottom right.

Lasso inserts the display into your post like normal. 👇

After the display is in your post

On the Lasso block you can:

  • Update Display: refresh what’s shown after you change settings

  • Select a New Display: pick a different link, group, or table if you'd like

  • Edit Display: open options for this placement again in case you'd like to change it

You can still open the full Link Details page in Lasso later for additional edits and to update the link. The editor flow is for getting a solid display in the post quickly.

Already have the link in Lasso?

Skip Create a Link. In Choose a Link, search and click + Add on the link you want.

FAQ

Do I still need to create links in the Lasso app?

No. For displays in a post, Create a Link in the editor is enough. The Lasso dashboard is still useful for bulk management, opportunities, groups, and tables.

Will every link get automatic product data?

For Amazon: Lasso will retrieve Amazon data automatically. Lasso Lite will retrieve Amazon data if you add your Amazon API credentials.

Other URLs will get less data; you can finish name, image, and description in the same editor screen manually, though.

Can I edit the link after I add it?

Yes. Use Edit Display on the block to open the Link Details page in a new tab. Or, visit the Link Details page in your Lasso Dashboard if you're not currently working on a post.

Is this different from adding a text link?

Yes. This flow creates a display (product box) in the post. For text links and other insert options, see How to add text and display links in posts and pages.
