What Link Alerts are
There are two types of link alerts:
Alert type | Icon | What it usually means |
Broken link | Red link | The destination URL doesn’t resolve cleanly (404, bad redirect, missing product page, blank destination, etc.). |
Out of stock | Orange box | The product cannot be purchased on Amazon |
Opportunities | Green light bulb | You could earn more from the link or product mention |
Where to see Link Alerts
Lasso monitors your links and flags problems on the Links dashboard.
If you're using this in the plugin, you'll see this by going to WordPress > Lasso, like this:
If you're using the Lasso account, you'll see this at the top of your account menu or by going to your Links page, like this:
Click on any of the alert icons or boxes to see the links impacted by that type of alert.
Important idea: one Lasso link, many places on your site
Clicking on any of the individual links in your dashboard will take you to the Link Details Page.
Click on the Locations tab, and it will show you everywhere you mention that link.
On WordPress, this includes posts and pages that use it via Lasso shortcodes, displays, or cloaked URLs.
On your account view, this also includes YouTube videos, posts not on WordPress, etc.
When you fix a link in the Lasso Dashboard, you fix it across every Location. You do not need to edit every post separately.
All of your Locations should update within 24 hours after fixing the link.
So, let's look at how to fix them. 👇
How to fix a broken or out-of-stock link
1. Open the Link Details Page
Open your Lasso Dashboard, then click on any of the alert icons at the top of the page to filter for that type of link alert.
Click the link title to open the Link Details page. (Or, click Edit to open a small edit panel right on the page.)
2. Update Primary Destination URL
Find the Primary Destination URL field.
Replace it with a working URL, like another Amazon product.
Click Save Changes.
That's it! Lasso will now replace all of the Locations for you within the next 24 hours.
Optional for Amazon Links: If you want to keep your custom product title, go to WordPress → Lasso → Settings → Amazon → Keep Title When URL Is Replaced. Toggle that on, and you will keep your custom title when you swap the URL. Turn if off if you want to refresh the title from the new product.
3. Confirm with Locations (optional)
The Locations column shows how many places Lasso detected that link.
After ~24 hours, if you'd like to confirm the changes:
Click the Locations tab on the Link Details page
There, you'll see everywhere you mention that link
You can then click to each post to make sure the link has updated properly
Tip: Reduce out-of-stock noise
If you're using the Lasso plugin, you can set it so it only alerts you for products that have been out of stock for a while.
To do this, navigate to:
WordPress → Lasso → Settings → Amazon → Days before out of stock alerts
Then, set the number to the timeline you'd like. For example, if you set it to 7, it won't show you out-of-stock alerts unless the product has been out of stock for 7 days.
If you set it to 0, Lasso will show alerts as soon as Lasso detects out of stock.
Tip: Recover broken and out-of-stock clicks automatically
It can be tedious updating every single broken and out-of-stock link, and it's impossible to update every link immediately.
But, every minute it's broken or out of stock, you risk someone clicking the link and not being able to complete the purchase.
This is why Lasso has a way to automatically redirect your audience if they click on a broken or out-of-stock product, and it's enabled by default for all users.
To configure this:
In your Lasso account, navigate to Settings → Preferences.
Close-match redirects for broken / out-of-stock products: When on, eligible Amazon clicks can redirect to a similar in-stock product instead of a dead end.
Show interstitial for broken / out-of-stock redirects: When on, show a brief page before the redirect. This requires close-match redirects to be on.
Turning this off sends shoppers to the original (possibly broken) destination.
This is not a substitute for fixing Primary Destination URL when you care which product you promote but is a great way to recover earnings until you have time to manually fix the links to the exact replacement you want.
Troubleshooting
I updated the dashboard but nothing changed
First, open the Link Details page for that product in Lasso and confirm it's still showing the new Primary Destination URL that you set.
Wait 15–60 minutes for the alert to clear on your Lasso Dashboard.
Wait 24 hours for the link or display to update in your live post.
If the alert cleared in your Dashboard but not in your post, clear the cache on that post.
If it's still not showing the new link, please message us at [email protected] so we can investigate it and get it fixed for you. If this is the case, please send us:
A link to the post where you're not seeing the update
What the correct Primary Destination URL should be
A screenshot of the Link Details page, showing the new Primary Destination URL
A screenshot of the Locations page showing the post in question
