Overview
Users occasionally see additional steps on mobile devices when clicking Amazon affiliate links generated by Lasso.
The flow looks like this:
Click the link → See a confirmation or question → Amazon
On iPhone for example, this triggers Safari’s “Open this page in Amazon?” prompt.
We'll look at why this is happening and how to turn it off if you'd like to.
Why This Is Happening
This has to do with Lasso's mobile deep linking feature.
Certain operating systems and browsers will try to open the Amazon app directly, which can cause a quick system message or loading screen before the redirect completes (either to the app or to the website).
If the user has the Amazon app, it will then open the app directly instead of sending them to the Amazon website. (And if no app is found, it'll open the website like normaal.)
We’ve found that this kind of deep linking typically leads to higher conversions, even with that slight delay. Shoppers are much more likely to checkout when they're on the app, and Lasso's deep linking sends them to the app while still retaining your tracking ID.
But, you can turn it off in a pinch!
Turning Mobile Deep Linking Off
Please go to Lasso > Settings > Amazon. There, you'll find a toggle for "Mobile Deep Linking".
Toggle that setting off, hit Save Changes at the bottom of the page, and Lasso will stop that process.
(If it doesn't take effect immediately, you may need to clear the cache on your site after toggling it off.)
