Overview
Lasso’s tracking is designed to give you a clear, reliable view of how your links, posts, and videos perform.
Lasso tracks two core things:
Link clicks: Clicks to all of your Lasso links
Content: Clicks and views for your website posts and YouTube videos
All of this data flows into your Lasso dashboard, where you can:
Identify your top-performing links and content
Understand what’s driving clicks
Make informed decisions to optimize and grow your revenue
Lasso tracks performance a little differently depending on where your links live (your website or YouTube), but the goal is the same: give you clear visibility into what’s getting clicks and driving results.
Website Click Tracking
For websites, Lasso uses JavaScript-based tracking to measure clicks and performance.
If you’re using the WordPress plugin, tracking happens automatically.
As long as “Page and Link-Level Tracking” is enabled in your settings (it is by default), you’re all set.
If you’re using a non-WordPress site, you’ll need to install the Lasso JavaScript snippet manually.
If you haven’t installed the script yet, follow this guide.
Once installed, Lasso can:
Track clicks on your affiliate links
Attribute clicks to specific pages and content
YouTube Click Tracking
YouTube tracking combines public data with Lasso link tracking to give you a full picture.
Views are pulled directly from public YouTube statistics.
Clicks are tracked through your Lasso links (using
lasso.toshortlinks).
Here’s how that works:
When you add a link to Lasso, it becomes a
lasso.toURL.When someone clicks that link, it briefly routes through Lasso’s servers before sending the user to the final destination.
This redirect is extremely fast and does not interfere with your affiliate tracking.
Because of this:
Every click is recorded in your Lasso dashboard
You can see which links (and videos) are driving engagement
Your links remain fully compatible with affiliate platforms like Amazon
Why This Matters
By combining:
JavaScript tracking (for websites)
Redirect tracking + public data (for YouTube)
Lasso gives you:
Accurate click tracking across platforms
Content-level insights
A clear path to optimizing your linking strategy
If something isn’t showing up as expected, it’s usually due to one of these:
JavaScript not installed (non-WordPress sites)
Tracking settings turned off (WordPress sites)
Links not using Lasso (
lasso.to) URLs (YouTube)
