Overview
When you connect Lasso to Claude, Claude can use a set of Lasso tools on your behalf: looking up your sites and links, checking Brand Deal eligibility, and creating new links. This article explains what each tool does, what the permission prompts mean, and which choices we recommend.
What the permission prompts look like
The first time Claude uses a Lasso tool in a chat, you'll see a prompt like "Claude wants to use Create link from Lasso" with three choices:
Choice | What it does |
Deny | Blocks this action. Claude can't complete that step, but it can explain what it was trying to do and suggest another route. |
Allow once | Approves this single use of the tool. Claude will ask again next time. |
Always allow | Approves the tool going forward, so Claude stops asking. |
It'll look something like this:
Lasso tools, grouped by what they do
Read-only tools (they look things up; nothing in your account changes)
Tool | What it's for |
List sites | Shows the sites on your Lasso account, with each site's URL, status, when it was last seen, and clicks in the last 30 days. Claude uses this to ask which site you mean. |
Get entitlements | Shows your plan and how many sites it allows. |
List links / Search links | Finds links already in your account by name. |
Get link | Looks up one link by its exact URL. |
Get performance | Shows clicks and Brand Deal earnings for the last 30 days, for one link or for a whole site. Earnings appear only when report data exists. |
List alerts | Finds out-of-stock and broken-link alerts. |
Scan URLs | Matches URLs you paste against your existing links and flags Amazon links that don't have an affiliate tag. |
Search catalog / Match catalog | Checks whether a product is in the Brand Deals catalog and eligible. |
List opportunities | Lists products Lasso suggests monetizing, ranked. Results are product IDs (ASINs), so Claude may need to look up what they are. |
Tools that create or change things
Tool | What it's for |
Create link | Creates a new link. It runs as a preview first (nothing is saved) and shows what the link will look like, then saves it once confirmed. Eligible Amazon links can get a Lasso Brand Deal link automatically. |
Apply opportunity | Applies a Brand Deal link to one of your listed opportunities. It also previews first, and it won't overwrite a link you set up on purpose. |
Create display | Generates a paste-ready shortcode or block for one or more of your links. It doesn't insert anything into your site; you paste it in yourself. |
Our recommendations
Read-only tools: "Always allow" is a good choice. They only look things up, so approving them once saves you a lot of clicking.
Tools that create or change things: start with "Allow once." This keeps you in control of what gets saved to your account. Once you're comfortable with how Claude works, you can choose "Always allow."
Expect more than one prompt per link. Creating a link uses the Create link tool twice, once for the preview and once to save. If you create four links with "Allow once," expect about eight prompts.
If a prompt looks wrong, choose Deny. For example, if Claude is about to use a site you didn't mention, denying stops it and you can correct course in the chat.
