Lasso has a small but powerful feature for adding a dynamic placeholder of the referring page URL and passing it on to the target link/Primary Destination URL.
This can be useful for adding UTM sources or letting your affiliate program know which page is sending the traffic for that product link - allowing it to be tracked independently from a third-party affiliate network like Skimlinks, VigLinks, and more.
π Heads up, Lasso's Performance module will track ALL your affiliate programs in one place!
How to Use Dynamic Referring Page Pass-Through
When setting up your Lasso display, you can use a simple reference placeholder inside the Primary Destination URL:
{url}
This will only work on the Primary Destination URL since that is the method for creating cloaked links
The click needs to be passed through Lasso's cloaked link redirection to apply the additional reference.
Here's how to do it:
Add {url}
inside your Primary Destination URL:
When a site visitor clicks on your Lasso link (the title, image, or primary button) they'll be redirected via your cloaked link to the landing page with the referring page as part of the URL.
The landing page's site will then have its own tracking analytics to detect the additional elements in the URL.
This won't be visible on the front end where your Lasso display/link appears, because it's still a cloaked link:
But the referring page is passed through to the target link:
Success!
What argument/parameter setup you use in the URL structure depends on where you are sending the click.
Every affiliate program/network can work slightly differently with unique arguments you need to add for it to work with each.
Examples:
&referrer=
&source=
&ref=
etc
For support with that, check the documentation with the affiliate program/network for that affiliate link!
