Fields are the important attributes of links you create in Lasso. A field could be a rating, a list of pros, or a product's dimensions. They were built to be incredibly flexible so you can create the ones that make the most sense for you.
Before you can effectively compare products, you need to start saving the data by which you would compare those products. That's what you should think about when creating fields for your products.
